A Message from Mayor Kelly Burke

Hello Neighbors,

Spring is just a few days away, and with it comes a season of growth and renewal, and lots of Village events. I am thrilled to share with you some of the exciting events and activities taking place in our community in the coming weeks.

This Monday, March 20th at 3:15 p.m. we will celebrate the grand reopening of the newly remodeled Kennedy Park, located at 89th and California. The park’s updated playground and amenities are sure to please the kids at Northeast School and those coming to Norris Field for baseball this summer!

Take a picture with the Easter Bunny on April 1 from 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m. at the Community Center. This free family event is open to Evergreen Park residents and will include a continental breakfast donated by Wolf’s Bakery along with make-and-take family craft projects.

Grandparents and their grandkids are invited to a Spring Break ice cream social sponsored by the Office of Citizens’ Services on Wednesday, April 12 from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. at the Community Center. This is a great way to spend an afternoon with your grandchildren while enjoying refreshments, games, and entertainment!

The spring edition of Move with the Mayor kicks off on April 15. Evergreen Park finished in the Top 10 during the fall challenge and it would be great to do that again! Registration to join Team Evergreen Park will be open at the beginning of April. Information on an upcoming Walk with the Mayor, and other events to get moving in Evergreen Park, will be shared soon.

Finally, I would like to remind you all of the importance of community involvement and volunteerism during this time of year. As the weather warms up, there are many opportunities to get involved in our upcoming park clean-up day to be held on Earth Day, April 22nd from 10 a.m.-11 a.m. at parks around the Village. Stay tuned to our website and weekly e-newsletter for more information as we get closer to the event. By working together, we can make Evergreen Park an even better place to live and raise our families.

Thank you for your continued support and participation in our community. I look forward to seeing you all at these upcoming events and enjoying all that the spring season has to offer.
