Officer Commendations

The Officers listed below have recently received a commendation from the Chief of Police; Michael D. Saunders; for their outstanding job performance.

OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE OF DUTY-Involving Multiple Officers


On May 23, 2020 Sergeant Trujillo, Sergeant Stiers, Sergeant Beyer, Detective Rich, Officer Higgins, Officer Truell, Officer Phillips, Officer Vos, and Officer Pratt received an Outstanding Performance of Duty Commendation for their actions and investigation into a barricaded subject incident.  The Supervisors and Officers were able to de-escalate a highly charged incident and safely restore peace without injury.  The suspect was charged with two felonies.

OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE OF DUTY-RECORDS CLERK THERESA QUINN


On April 29, 2020 Records Clerk Theresa Quinn received an Outstanding Performance of Duty Commendation for all of her extensive research and compilation on all dispositions relating to the Illinois Enforcement Training and Standards Board’s Annual Body Camera Report.

Outstanding performance of duty- Records Clerk Anne walusek


On April 3, 2020 Records Clerk Anne Walusek received an Outstanding Performance of Duty Commendation for all of her time, effort, and organizational skills in developing a formal training manual for the Records Division.

OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE OF DUTY - DETECTIVE DIVISION 


On January 9, 2020 Detective Captain Hart, Detective Cavato, Detective Guevara, Detective Rich, Detective LeCompte, and Detective Murphy received an Outstanding Performance of Duty Commendation for their excellent investigation work in several recent complex, manpower intense, in depth cases.

Outstanding Performance of Duty - Officer Herrera


On November 13, 2019  Officer Alex Herrera received an Outstanding Performance of Duty Commendation for his recovery of a loaded hand gun on a traffic stop.   The suspect was charged with felony weapons charges.

Outstanding Performance of Duty Commendation involving multiple Officers.


On November 13, 2019 Officer Koch, Officer Graal, Officer Lazinek, and Officer Higgins received an Outstanding Performance of Duty Commendation for their investigation and arrest that led to the seizure of 2,800 grams of stolen cannabis plants.

Outstanding Performance of Duty Commendation involving multiple Officers. 


On October 3, 2019 Detective Rich, Detective LeCompte, and Officer Higgins received an Outstanding Performance of Duty Commendation for their investigation that resulted in an identification and arrest of an armed robbery offender.  Additionally the Officers discovered the offender was also linked with many other crimes outside our jurisdiction.

On October 2, 2019 Detective Captain Hart, Detective Sergeant Stiers, Detective Guevara, Detective Rich, Detective LeCompte, Detective Switalski, Detective Brakowski, and Detective Murphy received an Outstanding Performance of Duty Commendation for their commitment and hard work in solving numerous recent complex investigations.

Sergeant Abel Salazar On June 7, 2019 Sergeant Salazar received an Outstanding Performance of Duty Commendation for his quick response in using life saving first aid to a gun shot victim. The shooting took place in the city of Chicago and the investigation was turned over to the Chicago Police Department. Please click hereto see the commendation.

Officer Jonathon Truell On June 7, 2019 Officer Truell received an Outstanding Performance of Duty Commendation for his quick response in using life saving first aid to a gun shot victim. The shooting took place in the city of Chicago and the investigation was turned over to the Chicago Police Department.

Officer William Higgins On February 5, 2019 Officer Higgins received an Outstanding Performance of Duty Commendation for his outstanding investigative work that resulted in the identification and arrest of a burglary suspect.

On November 28, 2018 Sergeant Trujillo, Sergeant Soso, Detective Murphy, Detective Watts, Detective Rich, Officer Lehnhardt, Officer Morgan, Officer Biszewski, Officer Quetee, Officer Smiley received an Outstanding Performance of Duty Commendation for apprehending two offenders from an Armed Robbery.

Officer Alex Herrera On June 6, 2018 Officer Alex Herrera located a vehicle wanted for an Armed Robbery in the City of Chicago. He assisted in the apprehension of the offenders from the Armed Robbery.
