As Village Clerk, Cathy Aparo (an elected official) attends meetings of the Village Board, keeps records of its proceedings, publishes and attests to all resolutions and ordinances passed by the Board. The Village Clerk also attests to all contracts of the Village, as well as all licenses, permits and other documents. The Village Clerk is responsible for keeping the official minutes of all other Village Boards and Commissions, as well as maintaining the Village Code. The Clerk is the official "Keeper of the Records", which includes minute books dating back to the 1890s. Local, state and federal election information is distributed and voter registration is conducted throughout the year.

The Village Clerk also functions as the Village Collector. As such, all business, vending licenses and vehicle stickers are processed through this office. The Clerk has a fiduciary responsibility to collect and accurately report all monies due to the Village. All legal notices are published through the Clerk’s office. Block party, solicitation and tag day requests are processed and maintained, coordinating the necessary services of the Public Works, Police and Fire Departments. The Clerk holds regular office hours to perform the necessary day-to-day functions of the Office under the direction of the Village Clerk.

Cathy has been in public service since 1984. She was elected Village Clerk in 2001, having gained experience in the Administration and Building Department and as Public Information Officer. She is also a member of the Evergreen Park Village Pantry Board and former member of the Library Foundation. Ms. Aparo’s additional professional experience include: Member, International Institute of Municipal Clerk’s and member of the Municipal Clerks of Illinois. She has attained designations as a Registered Municipal Clerk, Certified Municipal Clerk, and most recently Master Municipal Clerk. The International Institute of Municipal Clerk notes there are only 46 Master Municipal Clerk’s in the entire state of Illinois. She has held every office including Past President of the South and West Municipal Clerks Organization.

Cathy Aparo is a lifelong resident of Evergreen Park and of St. Bernadette Parish. She attained her Associate Degree in Liberal Arts at Moraine Valley Community College, and Bachelor of Arts at Saint Xavier University.
