Training

In accordance with guidelines published by the Office of the State Fire Marshal provides all basic, advanced, fire officer and daily training for all fire department personnel. All fire department personnel are state certified firefighters. Additionally, in order to provide the best services possible to the community, we have firefighters trained in public education, juvenile fire setter’s intervention, and fire investigation.

Public Education

Our public education division coordinates all fire prevention programs taught throughout the community. Fire prevention programs are offered in all village elementary schools throughout the school year. Additionally, the public education division conducts an annual bicycle safety course, third grade safety day, first aid classes, fire station tours and our annual open house.

Data and Communications

Our radio and computer technicians are responsible for maintaining all radio and computer equipment installed in our apparatus, fire station and emergency operations centers.

Vehicle Maintenance

Our certified fire department mechanics perform preventive maintenance and repairs on the fire departments fleet of apparatus and equipment.

Support Services

The division of support services is responsible for the department’s inventory of equipment and supplies. The division researches new technology in protective clothing, breathing apparatus and firefighting equipment to provide our personnel the best equipment available to perform their duties.

Emergency Medical Services

All fire department paramedics are licensed by the State of Illinois and must complete continuing education requirements each year to maintain this licensure. Our paramedics perform weekly blood pressure screenings for our senior citizens and in conjunction with the public education division, conduct first aid and CPR classes to residents and community groups.

Code Enforcement

Fire department inspectors conduct annual inspections on all commercial and rental property throughout the village. Additionally, in conjunction with the building department, inspections are conducted on all construction projects.

Emergency Management

The emergency manager, in conjunction with the fire department coordinates all emergency management functions throughout the village. The emergency manager is responsible for coordinating village departments in the event of a disaster, maintaining our village emergency operations plan and ensuring that the village is in compliance with county, state and federal guidelines regarding emergency management.
