The Office of Citizen's Services (OCS) acts as a liaison to village administration, respond to the needs of all residents, organize programs to promote a healthy mind and body, help older adults build a bright future for themselves and their community by enabling them to live independently with dignity. There are no strangers here, only friends we have not met. Why not give OCS programs a try?
OCS operates with a full time department director and assistant, two part-time secretaries, two part time mini-bus drivers, two meals-on-wheels drivers, and office volunteers. The department strives to grow and maintain current information on federal, state, and local programs. Professional affiliations include:
American Association of Retired People (AARP)
Evergreen Park Chamber of Commerce
Illinois Association of Senior Centers
National Council on Aging (NCOA)
National Institute of Senior Centers (NISC)
National Organization of Disabled (NOD)
Palos, Lemont, Orland, and Worth Township (PLOWS)
South Suburban Area Agency on Aging (SSAAA)
These affiliations benefit all village residents who, at one time or another, require assistance, information and referral.
Since its beginning, the one driving force behind the Office of Citizen's Services has been utilizing a volunteer army. Staff and volunteers are community oriented; seniors helping seniors.
Senior Citizens Council of Evergreen Park
OCS continues to work with the Senior Citizen's Council to advocate for seniors and maintain the Senior Citizen Drop-in Center. The Senior Citizen's Council was formed to act as an advisory group. To this day, the members continue to remain active. The council meets at 9547 South Homan Avenue on the third Thursday of the month at 11:30 am Informative programs and lunch follow the business meeting. All residents are welcome.
